Graduate student housing is located in the Graduate Life Center at Donaldson Brown.

Virginia Tech offers on-campus housing for graduate and professional students. This housing option reflects both the diversity and tradition that are the hallmarks of graduate studies at the university. The facilities are suited to provide privacy, convenience, and an atmosphere conducive to learning.

Please note we cannot accommodate family housing in the Graduate Life Center. We recommend families search for off-campus accommodations through offcampus.vt.edu.

Eligibility

Single- and double-occupancy rooms in the traditional and suite-style are offered to applicants on a first-come, first-served basis. To be eligible, a student must be admitted by the Virginia Tech Graduate School and enrolled full-time. The facilities are designed to accommodate individual students but not couples. Eligible students are offered housing concurrent with the start of an academic year and as space occasionally becomes available throughout the year.

Students interested in fall semester graduate housing can submit their information to the online graduate housing waiting list as early as the first day of class of the preceding spring semester.

Questions concerning graduate and professional student housing should be directed to the Housing Services staff at 540- 231-6205 or housing@vt.edu

Graduate Wait List Sign-Up

For graduate housing, contract offers are made in order of entry date, and determined based on the available housing. Students must be enrolled at the University before a contract will be offered.

To add your name to the Waitlist, first accept your offer of admission and create your VT Username/password/2-factor log-in. Approximately 72 hours after creating your VT Username/password, you will gain access to the StarRez Portal. Follow the on-screen instructions to log-in, and select Housing Contracts. Select Blacksburg – Main Campus Term and follow the onscreen instructions to select the waitlist for the appropriate term.

If you have not yet completed the admissions process or have not completed the VT Username/password generation, you can place your name on this version of the graduate waiting list.

Graduate Room & Board Rates

Room and board rates are posted each spring for the upcoming academic year after approval by the Board of Visitors. Please visit our rates page for details.

Dining Options

The dining facilities are conveniently located near the residence halls. All on-campus residents are required to purchase one of three dining plans: Major Flex Plan, Mega Flex Plan, or Premium Flex Plan. For more details, please  visit our dining page.

Note: Students living on-campus cannot purchase the Minor Flex Plan. Each plan works like a debit card and is easy to use at Virginia Tech’s Blacksburg campus.
