Stephanie serves as an assistant director for residence life in Housing and Residence Life at Virginia Tech. Stephanie began her residential journey as an undergraduate student when she joined her hall council as an undergraduate student. From there she became a resident advisor, a campus tour guide, and an orientation leader, which all led to a career in student affairs. Stephanie believes, without a doubt, that resident advisors are the hardest working student leaders and student employees on any university campus.
Stephanie earned her BA from San Diego State University in Speech Communication with an emphasis in Education, and her MS from Syracuse University in Higher Education Administration. In her nearly 20 years of experience in student affairs, Stephanie has worked in residence life, student conduct, and a women’s center in states across the country including California, New York, Massachusetts, and Illinois. She is a new transplant to Virginia and is excited to be a part of Hokie Nation!
Some of Stephanie’s favorite things include The Beatles, Mickey Mouse and Disneyland, golden retrievers (and really any dog!), the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and yummy drinks from Starbucks!
Stephanie’s favorite Aspiration for Student Learning is preparing for a life of COURAGEOUS LEADERSHIP because she believes we all have a responsibility to live our lives with a social justice framework. To quote John F. Kennedy, “Everyone can make a difference, and every person should try.”
