Flyer for the Aspirations Art Contest

Virginia Tech Housing & Residence Life and the Moss Center for the Arts are pleased to present an exhibition of student artwork in the Slusher Hall Tree Lounge on Thursday March 23rd from 7pm-9pm. This exhibition is inspired by the Five Aspirations for Student Learning and is intended to showcase students' interpretation of the Aspirations (listed below). Submissions will be judged by a panel of 3 judges and plaques and a small gift will be will be awarded to the winners in each Aspiration category at the exhibit.  
 
How to participate:  

  • Select one of the Five Aspirations for Student Learning: Commit to an Unwavering Curiosity, Pursue Self-Understanding & Integrity, Practice Civility, Prepare for a Life of Courageous Leadership, or Embrace Ut Prosim, as your inspiration for your art work.
  • Create a 2D or 3D work of art in the theme of your chosen Aspiration. Submissions may include (but are not limited to) photography, drawing, painting, fiber art, graphic design, collage, sculpture, or written expression.
  • Works should be no larger than 24" in any dimension and easily transported to the Housing and Residence Life Central Office in 144 New Hall West.
  • Download and print the label template, fill it out, and secure it to your art work.; please fill out this brief survey letting us know you’re planning to participate: http://baseline.campuslabs.com/vpiasu/artshowcase
  • Group submissions are welcome, but will be judged and awarded as a single entry.
  • All submissions must reflect the Principles of Community and the student honor code. As we are engaging with the Aspirations of Student Learning, please be mindful of how we utilize these practices in the work you produce.
  • Should you want to keep your work, it will be available for pickup after the end of the reception.  If not, we would be happy to hang it in residence halls around campus!
  • This showcase is only open to submissions from students living on campus, but all are welcome to the exhibit reception on March 23rd.  

Submissions are due by Noon on March 3, 2017. Deliver art work to:
